RHYMEBOOK APP GUIDE

Collaborating on Songs in RHYMEBOOK

Write songs together in real time. Share notes, see live cursors, manage permissions, and keep track of who wrote what.

Why Collaborate in RHYMEBOOK?

RHYMEBOOK is built for collaborative songwriting. Write with your co-writer in real time, see each other's edits as they happen, and keep track of who wrote what. No more emailing lyrics back and forth or losing track of versions.

Whether you're in the same room or across the world, RHYMEBOOK's collaboration tools make co-writing feel natural. Share a note, start typing, and your collaborator sees every word instantly. The app handles all the sync so you can focus on the music.

Sharing a Note

1. Open and Share

Open any note and tap the Share button. You can enter a collaborator's username directly or generate a share link to send via text, email, or any messaging app.

2. Choose a Permission Role

Select the access level for your collaborator. Editor can edit the content alongside you. Viewer has read-only access, perfect for managers or producers who need to review lyrics.

3. Notification and Access

The recipient gets a notification and the note appears in their Shared tab. They can open it immediately and start collaborating. No account setup or extra steps required.

Real-Time Co-Editing

When two or more people open the same shared note, edits appear in real time. No saving, no conflicts, no merging — just write together naturally. RHYMEBOOK handles sync automatically behind the scenes.

You can write a verse while your co-writer works on the chorus in the same note. Changes appear instantly on both screens. The experience feels like sitting at the same desk, even when you're miles apart.

Live Cursors

See exactly where your collaborator is typing with live cursor indicators. Each person gets a unique color so you always know who is writing where. This prevents accidentally overwriting each other's work.

Live cursors also help with coordination. You can see when someone is editing a specific line, so you know to work on a different section. It's a small detail that makes real-time collaboration feel seamless and intuitive.

Section Attribution

RHYMEBOOK tracks who wrote each section of a song. When multiple writers contribute to a note, the app records attribution automatically so credit is always clear. No more debates about who wrote which bar.

Section attribution is especially valuable for professional songwriters managing split sheets and writing credits. The data is stored with the note, so you can reference it anytime — even months after the writing session.

Shared Folders

Share an Entire Project

Instead of sharing notes one at a time, share an entire folder with a collaborator. All notes inside the folder inherit the shared permissions. Any new notes added to the folder are automatically shared too.

Perfect for Albums and Writing Camps

Shared folders are ideal for album projects, writing camps, or ongoing partnerships. Create a folder for each project, add your collaborators once, and every song in that folder is accessible to the entire team.

Managing Permissions

Owner

  • Full control over the note
  • Can edit, delete, and publish
  • Manages collaborator access
  • Can change or revoke roles

Editor

  • Can edit content freely
  • Changes sync in real time
  • Cannot delete the note
  • Cannot manage permissions

Viewer

  • Read-only access
  • Can view the latest version
  • Cannot make any edits
  • Great for managers/producers

You can change roles or revoke access anytime from the note's share settings. Open the note, tap Share, and adjust permissions for any collaborator.

Collaboration in Music Studio

The Music Studio also supports Collaborate Mode. Write lyrics together in a real-time session while generating music. Both writers can edit the lyrics, adjust the arrangement, and preview the track together — perfect for remote songwriting sessions.

Collaborate Mode in the Music Studio combines the real-time co-editing experience with audio production. You can hear how the song sounds as you write it, making the creative feedback loop faster and more natural than traditional back-and-forth workflows.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I share a note with someone?

Open any note and tap Share. You can enter a collaborator's username or send them a share link. Choose whether they should have Editor (can edit) or Viewer (read-only) access. Once shared, the note appears in their Shared tab and they receive a notification.

Can multiple people edit a note at the same time?

Yes. When two or more people open the same shared note, all edits appear in real time. RHYMEBOOK handles sync automatically so there are no save conflicts. Each collaborator sees live cursor indicators showing where others are typing.

What are the permission roles?

There are three roles: Owner has full control and can delete the note or change permissions. Editor can edit the content but cannot delete or manage access. Viewer has read-only access. You can change roles or revoke access anytime from the note's share settings.

Can I see who wrote which part of a song?

Yes. RHYMEBOOK tracks section attribution automatically. When multiple writers contribute to a note, the app records who wrote each section so credit is always clear. This is especially useful for split sheet documentation and writing credits.

How do shared folders work?

You can share an entire folder of notes with a collaborator. All notes inside the folder inherit the shared permissions. This is useful for album projects, writing camps, or ongoing partnerships where you need to share multiple songs at once.

Is collaboration available on the free plan?

Yes, basic collaboration features including sharing notes and real-time co-editing are available on the free plan. Some advanced features like shared folders and detailed section attribution may require a RHYMEBOOK Pro subscription.
